Smart Meter with Economy 7
Does anybody use Economy 7 on a SMET2 meter?
I've always used Economy 7 electricity, I have solar cells for day use and run heavy appliances at night giving me a conservative saving of £100.00 p.a. over single tariff
End of August I moved to Shell Energy and as advised by them got a smart meter installed on the 22nd Sept, the was no documentation or information supplied other than install date given at any time.
I received no instructions at the installation but asked how I view the night reading and was told it gives a single reading and rates were set at supplier end.
On asking Shell energy when the the low cost (night) was valid, the response was that I was now on a single tariff.
I told them that was unacceptable and they said they would get back to me.
Difficult to find details on Honeywell AS302P SMET2 electricity meter, but as far as I can tell the it does support multi tariff if software set.
There response could be interesting - whatch this space.
Nice to save.

What a disaster! This is why I won't accept a smart meter for myself or my mother. Just another thing to go wrong in the process. I'll be interested in the outcome.

Shell should not have put you on a single rate tariff, if they have they are cowboys!
Check the registers for yourself.
The AS302P has two grey buttons on the right hand side of the display.
You press the top button first then you press the bottom button 3 times in succession.
Now press top button then bottom button then top button which gives day reading now press the bottom button to give night reading.
So in all the sequence of pressing the buttons are:
Top button 1, 5, 7
Bottom button 2, 3, 4, 6, 8
You need to see Boost with arrow pointing to it.

Thanks Thorganby, they didn't leave any instructions on the meters.Shell customer support is really appalling. I've phoned & emailed them, wanting to know what they were going to do regarding my issues. The first 4 of 5 times I was told it had been escallated and somebody would get straight back to me. - it didn't happenI was told the the hardware does not support dual tariff electricity - NOT TRUE - which they eventually acknowledged that but confirmed they just didn't off dual tariff on a smart meters and I "was told that" - which they quickly changed to "should have been told that".
In fact no Electricity tariff has been set in the smart register meter registers at all.Eventually they told me I could either stick with single trariff or they could remove the meter and then put me back on the dual tariff.I looked at an alternative suppliers but due to price changes they had all put up their pricing since so it is not worth changing, despite the fact they have also put up the standing charges without telling me, albeit minimal (only 1p per day)They also said it would take a few weeks to update the smart meter tariffs3 months in and still not 100% right
