Downloading and Installing Microsoft 365 over Office 2013

I need to download and install Microsoft 365 on a computer which already has Office 2013 installed on it.  My operating system is Windows 10

I have some questions:
1. Where's the best place to buy Microsoft 365 from? The two vendors I'm aware of are Microsoft and Amazon.  I already have accounts with both

2. Should I uninstall Office 2013 before installing Microsoft 365?

3. Any tips from people who've already done this?

Thank you

  • 1) Office comes in a subcription version and a "one off" version.  Both you can usually get cheaper from elsewhere other than Microsoft.
    2) You can have both on the same machine if you really want to.
    3) The subscription version can be installed on upto six computers at a time from the one account.  The "one off" should really only be installed on one at any one time, though there is probably nothing to stop you otherwise, but you are supposed to buy a new licence for each computer, but in much like reality what you're supposed to do and what you actually do are two entirely different things.

    1. Microsoft 365 is very much cheaper from Amazon than Microsoft (just over £50 compared to around £80)
    2. Just install it and it will take care of any previous versions without problem.

    1. Just bought one off ebay for £1.99 - (the one I had similar still worked after 18 months but I couldn't remember the password to put it on my new PC!)
    2. Yes, uninstall completely and reboot before installing new.
    3. See 1&2 😉

    That is amazing!!
May I ask, did the sellers's description say you couldn't use your own email address for the subscription?
I am struggling to understand what this means in practical terms.
I have Office 2016 installed and am thinking of uninstalling and replacing with this deal.
This has 5TB of mass storage included forever !!!!!!!
Sounds too good to be true.

It comes with a 'username' and password - the U/N is the seller's email address (well, it worked that way!) and you have to change the P/W initially.
    Practically, I have Office 365
When I open Word (for example) and select File/Account it says "MS 365 Apps For Enterprise" "Belongs to seller's email address"

You must forgive my disbelief at this amazing offer.
Having run a business with 40 Microsoft Licenses and the accompanying phaff of annual Microsoft License audits, I just cannot believe that 365 can be obtained in this way bearing in mind all the users out there who are paying an annual subscription.
But hey ho, I'm no moral crusader and if it's out there I'm up for it.
Thanks for the information which is most helpful and apologies to the thread starter if I have appeared to hijack the subject.
