Raisin bank & Starling

Am I being thick? I have a Starling account/card and I have just tried to open a Raisin Bank account which tells me I am applying for a Starling account! As I can only open one Starling acc. what do I do? Carry on and try and open another acc. or what? Anyone any experience of Raisin account opening please.

Raisin uses Starling as their deposit collection vehicle. The Starling account which you hold at Raisin is different to your 'normal' Starling account. It will not be visible in your Starling app, only through Raisin. Starling provides the FSCS protected functionality of the Raisin UK Account that allows you to transfer money to and from the Raisin partner banks.

You should be able to open the extra Starling account as part of your Raisin application. In the early days, they had some problems and you could only have one Starling account linked to the same mobile number. This should be fixed now - I have both, a 'normal' Starling account and a Raisin one. I had however, opened the Raisin one first, and I was pretty much oblivious to the fact that I was applying for a Starling account. I only realised this when I tried to open a 'normal' Starling account and it wouldn't let me at first.
  • Thanks colsten. Will continue with the application.

@diamond_dave Raisin have just updated their T&Cs. Amongst the changes is further clarification about their relationship with Starling. See section 2.4 in https://www.raisin.co.uk/terms-and-conditions

Although they could have gone further and explained that the Raisin UK Account has nothing to do with the account holder's 'native' Starling account

    This is not investment advice.
Your money may go "down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... down and up and down and up and down and up and down ... I got all tricked up and came up to this thing, lookin' so fire hot, a twenty out of ten..."
