Someone else said they're copying posts from elsewhere and it looks like they've been reported as spam a few times. May be trying to get post count up. Hard to tell what's their words and what's not. On mobile so hard to check. Agree though, this one makes no sense.
2024 wins: *must start comping again!*
  • My solicitor said all transactions were going through during the previous lockdown. But there could be some issues finding a removals company.

exactly what happened with us - we exchanged at the beginning of march and completed at the end of April - all went through fine legally, only stress (not for us) was the vendors removals
  • My purchase completed during lockdown (1 May), exchange took place just before my solicitor finished for the evening and completion / funds sent the following morning.

I then contacted a local removal company (had already been in touch with them to get a quote and find out their availability) and that was booked in for a few days later (4 May) due to my OHs work schedule; think it was 2 hours the guys took to grab the stuff, load their van, drive to my home and put everything in place including reassembling some furniture.

I merely pointed at everything in each room, stayed out their way as they were like machines, pointed out where to put things in my home and stayed in the kitchen as they did it. Popped out to hand over the cash (taken out a week before and put in a bank coin bag) and thank them.

I've also had tree surgeons out not long after moving, again paid in cash put in a bag a week before.

Life does still carry on, it's just done differently at the moment.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.
  • we had plenty of people in the house - decorator for 3 weeks in May, just kept our distance and paid by bank transfer. Also plumber, electrician, carpet fitters, locksmith etc - all paid by bank transfer
