  • You say your next DD have you already paid some and expecting a full refund? if so then cancel the DD and contact them again.
  • I have paid 2 payments on the mattress and due to their "no quible"return and refund promice for 200 days i am returning it as its the most uncomfortable mattress ive ever had.my next payment is due in 7 days and i had a confirmation from them via email 3 weeks ago that they would arrange collection but after chasing them up numerous times its still here.when i said i would stop the direct debits the man on the phone said that would affect my credit in the future.
  • In reality ime sure i wont get a refund of the payments ive made so far judging by the reviews ive now read on trustpilot but i dont feel i should pay any further payments.

    Don't cancel the direct debit.
  • So i just carry on paying until they finally arrange collection which judging by reviews of this company could be months

Nectar offer finance through Splitit, and they don't offer repayment through Direct Debit, at least according to their website.  You repay by credit card or debit card.  Whilst it is possible to get a bank/credit card company to decline payment requests from specific companies, it's nowhere near as easy as cancelling a DD.

They don't say anything about reporting non-payment to the CRAs, but it'd be far safer to assume they will.  And you'll need Nectar to cancel the finance, cancelling the repayments yourself may cause a whole host of issues.
  • Thankyou for your reply but I DO have 12mths interest free finance paid via direct debit on the 1st of each month.
  • The finance is via "specialist finance".

As you have already paid two DDs, I'd leave the DD arrangement in place, it COULD very well affect your credit in the future if you cancel, although I agree that it does seem really unfair.

I would also now start phoning them twice a day, every day, until they do something. Get under their skin, annoy them as much as you possibly can. And I'd definitely make sure that I got a refund of everything I paid.

Don't forget to keep making the point that you are entitled to a full refund of the payments you've already made. Then, if they don't refund your money within a reasonable time frame, you can go to the Financial Ombudsman and complain and they'll help you get it back. Do NOT let them get away with stealing your hard earned cash!

You have done everything correctly and this just isn't good enough. If you feel you need further help and back up, you can always contact Citizens Advice.

But first of all, get on to them and do not stop until they act.  *ahem* sorry about that but this kind of injustice just really gets to me!

Either way, what I said about not paying still stands.  If you stop, you'll trash your credit file.  You might be able to get them to amend it in light of the mattress being returned but it'll probably take time and isn't worth the hassle when it can be avoided by carrying on paying for the time being.
