DCBL adding charge.

Hi,
I recently had a company do a claim from my bank for PBA and they won and I was awarded a small sum of money.  I got into a dispute with the company who I made the claim through regarding the % they were taking as the figure they asked for was more than the 30% they quoted. I said I have no problem paying the 30% but it seems you are asking for more than that. Anyway to cut a long story short they have now got DCBL  debt collection involved and the original fee of £104 is now £204. I contacted the original company and they said DCBL have added £90 to the bill(not sure what the other ten pounds is), but if I pay the original £104 they will write off the fee. Can DCBL just add £90 to the bill? DCBL have sent a letter stating I owe £204 and if I don't pay it they will add £70 to the bill. The letter from DCBL states (for the time being)  'this is not enforcable by bailiffe action etc'

Not sure how DCBL can just decide to add £90 to a debt that was outstanding to another company and not DCBL.
Any advice?
Thanks

Are you forgetting the VAT?  Claims companies are subject to VAT.  So, when they say 30% it is really 30% plus 20% VAT.

It is normal for costs of recovery to be added.

It isn't at this stage.   If you continue to reject they will usually take it on further.

Direct collection bailiffs limited, are the guys from “don’t pay well take it away”, High court enforcement agents.
As this has not been to court, they are simply acting as debt collectors, the £90 fee is the cost of escalation for their services.
If the company take you to court and win, then bailiff action can begin, and they will visit you with escalating costs for each visit.
Just so that you are aware your debt could end up being £500 plus.
