Hotel only booking Travel republic

We booked separate flights and hotel booking for sept . All booked on credit card , also had holiday insurance since jan 2019. Easyjet cancelled our flights which meant we were unable to get to Portugal to enjoy our holiday . Here’s the stressful part ... who will refund us the £560 for the ‘non refundable ‘ hotel booking .the credit card company say they are not liable as travel republic did not cancel the booking .... the travel insurance compAny say I need a letter from travel republic to say they won’t refund me . I cannot get travel republic to answer my messages on the app ? Can anyone advise me ? I’m just going round in circles . I have been refunded my flight prices but I was unable to get to Portugal due to cancelled flights to avail of the hotel booking with travel republic . 

I know in normal circumstances “non refundable “ means exactly that , but in covid 19 times . Surely I can get refunded by either travel republic , credit card or travel insurance ???????!!!!!

If the hotel was open Travel Republic are not obliged to refund you.  Providing your insurance covers you for inability to get to your destination they should refund you but will want you to exhaust all other avenues first.  Bombard Travel Republic with emails/texts/letter asking if you are due a refund,  keep copies and allow a couple of weeks for response.   Contact your insurance again and send them all the evidence you have that you have tried to obtain a refund from TR and whatever response you get - if non tell insurers they are ignoring you.  

Might take perseverance but you should get there in end.  Good luck.
