Part service

Is there any need to part service a car, as opposed to waiting for it's full service every year.
I've got a 13 plate Kia ceed diesel and just wondering what the rough cost might be.

What would be carried out in a part service vs a service?

Back brakes don't require any attention, because they're not fitted?

Brakes and tyre wear may not be in synch with servicing dates so may need changing in between.  A battery can give up the ghost at any time.

A part service is what you get if you take a car to a garage. They do whatever parts of a service they feel like doing on the day.

A part service is just oil & filter.
They will look at tyre tread and brake pads, if they can see them through the wheels, as this is an opportunity to upsell, plus people who drive round on bald tyres and brake pads down to the metal would probably start crying "It has just been serviced!" when they are in the frame for a whole coachload of dead nuns and baskets of kittens all over the road, and the garage would then have to waste time defending themselves.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))
  • No need. This is not America where people still seem to think it's the 1940s they need an oil change every time they go to do the weekly shop at Walmart.
