What I put of Facebook, social media is not illegal. I've put Web dev.
I have said I'm in web dev, that's what I'm doing but I'm employing someone and trying to get clients. They may THINK I'm doing the development.
In general they think I'm cheating, hoodwinking, doing fraud, misrepresenting etc.
They have no proof apart from social media where I put it however anything you put on social media is not illegal. Some bully of mine may call and say I'm doing fraud or intent for fraud.
Can this happen?

Are you saying that you advertised online as a web developer or posted it as your occupation on your profile and then paid somebody to do the actual developing for you? If so, the Police won't care at all. You can put that you're an astronaut on social media and they still won't care.
If it was something like you claiming to be a doctor and giving out medical advice or pretending to be a Police Officer, you might be able to get in trouble but not for web developing. As long as your customers are happy, you're fine.

Thanks.
I'm not a web dev and I'm not giving out advice and pretending to develop either. I'm just hiring a developer who people may think I'm doing fraud saying I'm a developer by profession.

Do you think the CEO of Dell actually puts computers together himself?
It is normal practice for businesses to have employees, sub contractors etc. You would need to read the terms of any agreements you have with your clients to ensure the sub contracting doesnt cause a breach but even if it did then that would be a civil issue not a criminal one and so of no interest to the police.
Obviously as you are acting as the business rather than an introducer then you are fully liable for any errors/omissions etc caused by your sub contractor but then I am sure you know that and again civil issue.0 -

A suggestion is to give your business a trading name and call it "XZY Web Development" or something similar.0 -
You're basically an agency... Very common for web companies to outsource Dev, content, design. Don't give it a second thought0

I mean this is going to end badly, but mainly because of ignorance1

Why would it end badly? Maybe morally wrong to claim to be the actual developer, but not illegal. IF I was the OP I would change my title to project manager or something similar and maybe be more transparent.. i.e. you manage a team of freelancers0

OP last logged in on 24 Sept, so I think you are talking to yourselves in terms of engaging with the OP2
