MSC Cruises

We were due to go on an MSC cruise on 2nd July but this was cancelled in May and we accepted a refund for the cruise from the travel agents Hayes Travel but we are still awaiting a refund. According to Hayes Travel today 24th September MSC are still to process June & July refunds and we will still have to then wait 120 days.
Is anyone else still in the same position and can anybody offer any help or advise.

Many many people are in the same position of waiting for refunds from agents who say they can't/won't refund until the actual service provider does! The Package Travel Regulations 2018, however, mandate that cancelled packages are refunded to the customer within 14 days - this timescale is (unsurprisingly) being ignored by agents who are deep in their own financial crisis, but if you paid by card then you can make a chargeback claim via your card provider, on the basis that the refund isn't being supplied in line with the legal obligations....

Same issue here. Booked a cruise through Barrhead Travel for July this year. The Cruise was cancelled by MSC start of June but only through searching the net did I find this out. I finally managed to contact Barrhead and they agreed to arrange refund on 26th June. Since that time there hasn't been a dickie bird from Barrhead and I have had to resort to contacting them through twitter. As of yesterday they have given the standard response of "MSC haven't yet refunded the cruise try contacting us every two weeks". Emailing MSC to see if they have or have not issued the refund all you get is another standard response of "Please contact your Travel Agent regarding any refunds". Thing is a total shambles.

Whether MSC have refunded the agent is not what the law says.
The law stipulates that you have a right to a refund within 14 days for a package, meaning this will now be a card provider matter if you choose to take this course of action, of course quoting the Package Travel Directive.💙💛 💔0
