Letting agent contractor poor work.

What are my options when a contractor used by my letting agent does a job and is not done to what was required and also is poor workmanship. The letting agent has already taken payment from my rent.

Well you would dispute it with the letting agent.

What does your contract with your letting agent say about authorising them to pay contractors on your behalf? What did the letting agency say when you raised the issue with them?

    Complain to the letting agent.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Probably just as well else you would fall into rent arrears.

Paying your rent isn't conditional on good workmanship. Unless you have a very very unusual tenancy agreement

    Edit: ignore this. See below

I think they mean they're the landlord, and they've taken the cost out of the rent paid by the tenant to the LA.

😆 So it is. Been a long night with an awake baby. I'll quietly go back to where I came from.

Baby brain is the excuse used by the weak! :D

I remember those days, just stick CBBies on and try to avoid going insane - good luck!
  • Yes I'm the landlord. I've contacted my letting agent about it. I just don't like the agent taking payment to the contractor until I'm satisfied with the work. You wouldn't do that if you were employing somebody directly.
I'm currently debating the standard of workmanship with the agent. Where do I stand if they say the work is good enough and they have my money.

Well you would have to read your contract with them
