MOT has Turbo “NA” but car has turbo?

Hi all. I took my car in for service and MOT yesterday. My car passed MOT with no advisory markers (which is good after an expensive month of tyre replacement last month!) and the full service was undertaken.

My Omissions paperwork has Turbo: NA. I have a Honda CRV 2010 diesel and it is a turbo engine. I called them to ask for more info when I noticed and they explained because of the plate number and how the MOT input system works, it shows up NA because the plate number is 0.58.

I have Googled and have seen the requirements changed in 2018 for emissions checks and that now if a plate number is there that is taken over other readings - does that also mean that the turbo part of the paperwork on emissions becomes NA because of the plate number?

I want to make sure I’ve got accurate paperwork and I’m not getting away with a car that is emitting more than it should and not being picked up because of a plate number.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,

I suspect "NA" is meaning "not applicable", rather than "naturally aspirated".

For diesel cars first registered before July 2008, the presence of a turbo would affect the default emissions standard to be met. 2.5 non-turbo, 3.0 turbo.
But post that date, it doesn't - and, as you say, the presence of an emissions target sticker overrides the defaults anyway - for a 2010 car, the default is 1.5, turbo or not. 2014 onwards, 0.7 is the default - so your car is being held to a higher standard (the lower the number, the less smoke opacity) than the default for even new diesels.

I wonder when the last non-turbo diesels were actually sold in the UK?

I'm going to guess at VAG SDI engines in the 2000's. I think the Polo had one and so did the Skoda equivalent.

Yep, VAG SDi was the last one I could think of, too, perhaps DW8 in some of the PSA stuff. A quick google suggests Euro4 killed the DW8 in 2007, looks like the SDi lasted another couple of years.
