Driveway planning permission required?

Hi all, I'm after some advice on weather I require planning permission.
Basically I live in a house on a private road and with to turn my front garden into a driveway, i understand that to avoid the need for planning i would need to install drainage. The question is though as I live on a private road that is maintained by the residents and that the drainage is already in place, am I required to still add dranage as the water would be flowing onto the private road in which i have a percentage ownership in and not onto public highway.
Thanks in advance.
Alex

What are you planning on using as the surface. Planning permission is not normally required for driveways that uses aporous/permeable surface or where surface water can be directed to a permeable area on your property.1

I was planning on using block paving, we currently have a drive so we're hoping to use the same pavers so it all matches in, hence why I'm hoping to do it without drainage as the current drive runs to the kerb of the private road with no gutter or border.0

Block paving wont require planning permission.but should have a permeable sub base.

Is this for any block paving or just special permeable pavers? I had the impression it was certain pavers only due to a few different sites.
Thanks again

Permeable block paving with a porous sub base doesn't require planning permission.alexwhite12 said:
