Going on holiday next week to Turkey. 2 members of the group live in Wales and are although they are not yet in local lockdown (Vale of Glamorgan) they are Surrounded by lockdown areas, so there is potential.
The welsh government have stated anyone in lockdown can not travel abroad. Tui have said unless the FCO directly ban travel to Turkey then they can go. So no refund if they do go into local lockdown. Where do we stand???

I would just go anyway, there are no police roadblocks making people stay.
Either that or lose thousands as I suspect travel insurance may not cover it either.0 -
From the Wales gov website for one of the lockdown areas:
"I’ve booked a holiday abroad in the coming weeks – can I still go?
No. We know this will be disappointing but travelling out of the Bridgend County Borough Council area for a holiday is not one of the permitted reasons under the regulations. The regulations are in place to protect you and your loved ones from coronavirus and to prevent the onward spread of the virus to other areas of Wales, the UK and other countries.
If you have pre-booked – and paid for a holiday – we would advise you to contact the travel agent or travel company to discuss the current situation in the Bridgend County Borough Council area and the restrictions which have been put in place by the Welsh Government to restrict non-essential travel. You should also contact your travel insurer to discuss the situation – while many insurers have designed policies with coronavirus exclusion clauses, some annual policies may cover this situation."
I'm actually quite flabbergasted that the Welsh devolved government has the authority to stop people leaving the country!
One answer would be for your friends to stay elsewhere as soon as they hear of a lockdown coming into force.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. This is the only trouble with devolved issues..... A bus load, including people from Bolton, travelled to Trecco Bay which has closed so they have now carried on down to Tenby!0

Its also quite sweet that they suggest travel companies will go along with it as well and move holidays for free.1 -
Difficult because while going might not be the problem (any announcement likely next week - usually Tuesday) the coming back might be....in two weeks Vale and many more places in Wales could face restrictions - then getting back into the areas would be a problem. Are you flying from England rather than Cardiff. If England before any announcement then you are not to know !

How would getting back in be an issue? They live there and in the very very small event that the police throw up roadblocks they could easily prove so, are you suggesting it would somehow be illegal for them to return back to their own home?0

No but where Caerphilly is concerned(it is in lock down) - you just should not go on holiday out area.....if you have been away sometime when you return you then have to follow restrictions. and stay in area. This is assuming the same provisions in other areas stay the same. If you live in Wales you have one thought that is the restrictions earlier this year......0
