Caravan disposal
I have managed to "inherit" a 1978 caravan which was left on my relatives land. I have been in touch with caravan breakers to see if they will take it and I have listed it on ebay and gumtree for nothing or 99p and had nothing but a couple of time wasters. I need to get rid of it but have no idea how to do this. I don't expect to dispose of it for nothing but who can do this? Any advice would be appreciated.

Try your local car breakers yard ??
Freegle or Freecycle ??

Just phone the local scrapper. They'll come and collect it.
How accessible is it with a truck?1 -
Easiest way is to see if your local scrap yard / scrap metal collector will come and take it.Or break it down, and dump/skip it. You can probably sell the chassis for a few quid as someone will want it as the basis of a trailer.1

A friend of mine bought a very old caravan for use as a playhouse/summerhouse in the garden. Depends on condition as to whether it would be suitable for this sort of role. Can it even roll or will it need a flatbed/trailer to be moved?1

When my Grandad died my dad and I had to get rid of one , nobody wanted it only people slightly interested where the banger racers who race towing a caravan . Unfortunately we had to take it to them . And it didn't roll .
A scrap man I know didn't want it full as it would cost more to strip out than the money in the metal . In end my dad and I stripped it burnt everything that would then scrap took the rest .2 -
Play conkers with it.1

Sell it to the BBC for "disposal" on Top Gear.0

Some of the parts will be worth money, but the bulk and need for somewhere to keep the remains makes it difficult to break it yourself. A 3-way fridge for instance is very expensive to buy new and has a second-hand value.
Depending on condition and trim people doing a self-build motorhome may be interested in it as a donor vehicle. We once bought an old one, stripped what we wanted, and gave away the rest free on freecycle. The guy who took it said he wanted it for a henhouse, although we suspected he was scrapping it. Not that we cared.
If it wont go free I’d be inclined to offer £50 to take it away. There is a risk it would end up dumped though, you’d need to do some due diligence on the people taking it.1 -
Yes you need to check they have a waste transfer licence or if it gets dumped it’s on you it seems.1

Thanks everyone. I put it on Freecycle and it’s been collected today by a guy who says he wants it as a play House for his kids.3
