Howdy !
I've just received the above . It says I've spoken to them before , but to be honest I'm not sure if I have .
The message says it is contacting me regarding the EDF Warm Home Discount Scheme , advising me that a  £140  rebate on my
electric bill is now open and I may qualify . If I would like help applying or would like to check eligibility then I should text Yes WHD .

Some of you may have seen my problems with EDF on my previous posts , which have now been happily resolved .
However , the reason I'm confused is that I did phone various companies for advice regarding my old boiler woes back in the winter  , while being
on universal credit . One call from a snotty woman from EDF telling me that all companies are the same and that I'll not qualify
for the WHD .  I ended up getting a new combi boiler for £240 from EON .
I am staying with EDF for the foreseeable , but  am wondering if this text is legit and if I would be declined anyway.
Nothing was mentioned about the gas , which is also with EDF .
Could anyone please advise ?

Thanks in advance

Googled "Sustainable Energy" and they appear to be an advisory company specialising in the design of District Heating schemes  - ie Heat & Hot Water produced by one big boiler in a block of flats, supplying all the residents.
Quite why they would be contacting an individual householder seems odd, if it were me I'd treat it as a possible scam and make no reply until there was hard evidence it was legit.

As for EDF - Suggest you run your consumption figures thro' the Citizens Advice Energy site, and then make up your mind about staying with them
  • Thanks dogshome 🐕🐕
With the affordable warmth scheme , you get various questions about the type of home you live in etc. in case there were other benefits I could have as well as the  discounted new boiler. I'll ignore that text then ,and treat it as spam .

Regarding my policy with EDF , I received some compensation after complaining to the ceo and my bills are on the best tariff they can give me . I can leave at anytime , but I must say that I am  grateful by the response I have had so they deserve another chance .
Plus I had a nightmare joining the money expert site switching to orbit energy which was a mistake and was cancelled before it started . So I don't want to go through that for at least another 12 months .

Sustainable Energy Ltd is not the same as the Centre for Sustainable Energy.  The latter is a registered charity.

The souce of a text can be spoofed, but it's likely to be genuine unless it asks for your bank details etc. You could always contact them via their website if you are unsure.

    Thanks Gerry1 .
This May make more sense . When my  previous boiler broke down and the insurers I used refused to have anymore to do with it I called a fair few numbers . A couple of those were council numbers . Everything now is hazy as to who I spoke to , but it seems now that the text is possibly genuine after all .  If the number is genuine or not, I'm wondering how they know I'm with edf . I have been with them for many years . It may not be a bad thing to reply Yes WHD .
The text does give me the option to opt out of future messages by replying STOP

I'm wondering how they know I'm with edf.
If you gave them your mobile number and other info you probably told them about your energy supplier.  It's also quite easy to find out, e.g. via Find My Supplier or from your DNO.
  • Thanks Gerry 🤦‍♂️😸
I'll reply to the text and see what gives. I will update here when I know more..
  • Update :
Received a nice phone call this afternoon from EDF Affordabke Warmth Scheme .
The penny dropped , and it is EDF under their version of Affordabke Warmth Scheme.
I was asked a few questions which will have to be checked by DWP.
I have  Ltd Capability for Work and am on Universal Credit which hopefully goes in my favour .
If I get awarded the Payment it will be in January .
I'll keep you posted , when I hear more ..
