Want to cancel loveholiday booking

Ninth Anniversary Combo Breaker
edited 19 May at 4:53PM in Coronavirus Board
Hi.  Just over a week ago I foolishly paid a deposit (via my sister) to loveholidays for flight and hotel to New York next april.  We are 2 of 6 people on the booking.
I want to cancel, knowing I will lose my deposit, and book via a more reputable, and cheaper company.
Will I be able to do this or will I be liable now for the whole amount whether I go with them or not?
Thanks.
Cathy

  • How much is the cost of this holiday?

Are the flights refundable (as opposed to changeable due to Covid?) or would you have to pay for the flight in full?

Does an alternative now look as appealing?
  • It's a change of mind, so you're at the mercy of their T&Cs.
They'll be the people you need to ask (well, as your sister to ask) but don't be surprised if you need to pay more than the deposit amount.

Also if you cancel/drop out what happens to the other people on the same booking ,as stated you need to check the terms and conditions of the company you booked with.

Looking at their t&cs I expect you will be liable for 100% of the flight costs and the hotel will be dependent on whether a refundable or non-refundable rate was booked (I would hope that anyone booking during a pandemic would not even consider non-refundable rates) - have you paid a low deposit or the full standard deposit?
which was the "more reputable, and cheaper company" you were considering?
Deciding to change your mind at this stage will cost you dearly, what is done is done and and unless you are prepared to take a financial loss, you may as well stick with what you have
Have you been able to get travel insurance for this trip that will cover you if the US are still not allowing visitors in?

hindsight is wonderful, but have you not seen the mess the USA is in? Booking a holiday during a pandemic is risky, booking one to one of the countries actually doing worse than the UK is not a good idea.

Did you get travel insurance that will still cover you during a pandemic?
