Very true. Many of them do little to make it obvious they are just brokers.
Even the comparison sites give the impression they are searching the insurance companies directly.

Ironically some of the "comparison sites" arent even comparison sites, or at least in part. Many of the sites use Simply Business for their SME quotes exclusively just they present the result from their full panel in the style of a comparison site... eg Confused.com, look at the footer under Business Insurance and it states:
Confused.com Business Insurance is provided by Simply Business. Simply Business is a trading name of Xbridge Limited
