Where do you live?  That fee is several times larger than I can find in an on-line search of UK local authorities - even including the cost of the initial bin purchase.  Again, check with your local authority but in some places you can take it to the recycling centre for free and in some places it is permissible to put small amounts of green waste in your normal refuse.

I wonder if Paperhearts saw the 240ltr as £240?

I can only find prices for a green bin as around £35.

I had standard size and it took huge amounts.

£55.50 a year for wheelie bins in Somerset and cheaper £27.50 for 10x paper sacks, as an alternative 👍

I've just looked up Kensington and their green waste collection is £66.30 a year - £240 seems an extraordinary amount.
