How long do I wait after Making a part payment on a vehicle?

We put a part payment £500, (deposit) down on a vehicle mid July. Total cost of vehicle is £6595.
The vehicle is from a small local car dealer.
We have still not received the vehicle (now end September) and have tried to ring (both landline and mobile) and left messages, and contacted via social media and have not received any reply. We have even visited the dealer on numerous occasions and he has not been there.
We no longer want the vehicle as we are frustrated with the lack of contact and time waiting for the vehicle
Do we have any legal right to get our money back?

You had a right weeks ago. A delay of a week or two whilst they do any work required to it is acceptable. 2 months most certainly is not. Time to start pursuing the money, if needs be going by the Moneyclaim.gov route if they still refuse to play ball.0

When you put the deposit down when did the dealer say the vehicle would be ready?...assume it's second hand, so not sure why it would not be available within a few days of the payment assuming they would then need to get it checked over and MOT/serviced?Also very strange that they are not contacting you, the timescale is a joke!Has something happened to the dealer?...is there not somebody else there that can help you?.."It's everybody's fault but mine...."0

Time to get your detective ghat on and find out what the dealer is up to, he might be ill, out of business etc. How did you pay (hope not cash or bank transfer)?0

What was the method of payment for the deposit - if it was a credit card you might be able to reclaim via section 75, if it was a debit card, you may still be able to reclaim.
