  • If your insurance asks you if you have active points that is different to them asking if you had points in the last 5 years. You have to be honest on these things.

    For insurance?

What do they ask...? Five years...? So be honest.
If it makes no difference, it won't affect your premium.
If it does make a difference, then you really don't want them to find out. And they will.

You will be asked if you have ever been disqualified, so you will have to disclose for a while.  But you need to read/listen to every question that is asked and answer honestly to be safe.

You will be asked if you have ever been disqualified, so you will have to disclose for a while.
However you have no legal requirement to disclose it beyond the limitations set out in the Rehabilitiation of Offenders Act. An endorsement is spent after 5 years unless you were under 18 when you got the points at which point its 2.5 years. That 5 years applies even for endorsements that will remain on your licence for 11 years.

The rehabilitation period for a driving disqualification is the length of the disqualification. However if you are disqualified from driving as you normally get an endorsement which either is the reason for an instant ban or ban under totting up it's basically 5 years if the ban is less than that.
