Invigilating and Furlough

Options
I work as an Zero Hours Contract state academy school Invigilator (mainly an occupation of over 50's) and also have a ZHC with a local company. When this all kicked off and Furlough came along I immediately looked at what the local company would have to pay me as, like any company, profit is very high on its priorities. The local company has done everything required of them in an open and inclusive manner much to their credit.
While browsing the requirements online I realised that I was due to be paid for Invigilating as well. I duly wrote to the school and at first they would not pay anything but then relented and would pay the hours they reckoned we would work.
Last May/June I worked 65 hours about a quarter as lead Invigilator so slightly better paid and this year they have decided that I would have worked 15 hours flat rate.
Another invigilator has been paid the same so there will be some who have had their pay docked even more than me as I only work 3 days out of 5.
Has anyone else been treated so shabbily under Furlough?

On a zero hours contract, you were fortunate to get anything. I know others who received nothing.

To be honest I wouldn't consider expecting money for hours not worked. School budgets are stretched enough. I say this as an occasional invigilator. I have been asked back by my former school to work full time as a pastoral leader in these strange times. Much better to earn the money! Frankly appalled at your actions.
Good of you to be so honest but one might think that on a financial forum a contributor was aware of the Furlough scheme which was introduced by the Chancellor to ensure people had money to live on when their jobs were being closed down and there was no work. It was what an elected representative of the Government wanted. As an invigilator, I have no insight into our school budget. I would question your school's governance if it gives an invigilator access to its financial data. You have taken 2 jobs when unemployment is going through the roof. Perhaps you could offer one to someone else. I dread to think what pastoral care you would be giving to students when they have chimneys to clean. I do not know anyone called Frank but you appear to be doing alright Jack despite your indignation. Thanks for pulling up the ladder.

Invigilators haven't been furloughed because the government gave the schools the same money that they always give to schools to pay the invigilators. So it is up to the schools to pay up but lots seem to have pocketed at least a good proportion of it. It seems a bit mean to pick on the poorest paid staff. Lots of staff will be on their normal full pay.

OldBeanz, I was asked to go back as I am extremely good at what I do. I could quite easily sit back and do nothing but enjoy doing something worthwhile.  I do not have two jobs just a casual hours contract. I have no access to financial data. Invigilation is always zero hours and for most people just an occasional job to earn a bit of extra pocket money. So less insults please.
Your honesty did not extend as far as your alleged financial knowledge. It is quite apparent where the insults started and where your assumptions have taken you. Hardly non-judgemental and not in line with a pastoral role. I am just surprised you did not tell me to eat cake. Do you mean fewer insults?

I work as an invigilator at a local FE college and felt lucky to be furloughed, as its 'variable hours' I thought we would get nothing when all the main GCSE/A level exams were cancelled. As its a college theres a trickle of vocational exams starting up again and retakes happening soon too. My monthly pay has made no sense at all since April, and the wage slips lack detail just saying 'miscellaneous payment'. It certainly hasn't reflected the 'average of the last 12 months or pay for that month last year whichever is the higher' guideline.
I did wonder if to query it, bit tbh anything is a bonus when myself and my colleagues thought we would get nothing at all.

Ask yourself why they have not explained anything? Do you believe that is to your advantage?
None of our invigilators have been told they could join the LGPS either. Having done the job for 12 years that would have been a nice bonus worth 20% of what I have earned never mind any tax free avc bonus.
