Italian leather sofa advice

Options
Hi all,
We purchased an sisi italia leather sofa from a factory outlet in may. I bought leather cleaning wipes for it, and i use them as and when needed. I have noticed that especially the areas where our legs are, that the leather seems to be how can i put it, tiny flakey of weary? I am not sure if its the wipes, our legs conributing to this or the leather? Can anyone sugest maybe something to feed the leather to keep it softer to prevent this, or is this something that will hapen over time? We paid 2K for this sofa, and did not expect this to happen so quickly.
Thanks

Hi valleyboy, I did a quick search on forum just with leather sofas and there a number of people who have had similar issues with sofas from various retailers. I did not read through them all to see if anyone had found a solution to the problem of flaking but it appears to be down to the quality of leather used in manufacture and weather they use full hides or processed bonded leathers.
    Good luck.

Did the sofa come with any sort of care guide? It depends on the type of leather to how you should treat it. If it's bonded leather (lots of scraps of together formed together with a plastic coating), you can find it's not very hardwearing if the coating isn't good. Lot's of sofa's at the cheaper end of the market are made from this. There's nothing wrong with it, it's just made to a price which reflects in how long it lasts.
If you're sure it's not bonded leather, speak to the people at Gliptone who make liquid leather - I've used their products for years on proper leather car interiors etc and it's really good at rescuing dull or worn leather.

If you only bought it in May, I'd be tempted to speak to the retailer to see if they'll sort it too

At 2k I doubt the leather is bonded. Could you post some pictures of the areas?

Aren't Sisi italia just SCS's own brand? I'd be going back to them to see if they'll help. Would be helpful if you could post some pictures on here too
