Hi
Will EHIC cover us for a day trip to Calais / Adinkerke (Belgium) or would we need to purchase medical travel insurance, if so, any recommendations please?

When are you going? If its this year then EHIC continues to apply, if its next year it depends on what deal is struck (if any).
Is a day trip worth the 14 days of quarantine after you get back?3 -
Hi SandtreeThanks for replying, this will be next month October 2020, we still intended to do a day trip, it's hard to know what rules / regulations will be in place in 3 weeks time0

I can more or less guarantee that the 14 day quarantine will still be in place in 3 weeks time - especially as it expected that lockdowns/restrictions are set to increase anytime soon here at home2

So yes, the european scheme will still be in place and applicable to British citizens so you'd be entitled to the same level of public health cover as local citizens are... this doesn't cover repatriation or anything similar.Beverley_Hillbillies said:Hi SandtreeThanks for replying, this will be next month October 2020, we still intended to do a day trip, it's hard to know what rules / regulations will be in place in 3 weeks time
Fully agree we don't know what tomorrow holds but the direction of travel is certainly pointing to things becoming stricter before more relaxed but it may be that your day trip is worth spending 14 days in quarantine for afterwards... obviously just your decision.1 -
You might have a double whammy of 14 days - when the French impose 14 days on visitors from England and then the English imposing 14 days on people who have been in France.
At this time what's so urgent about a day trip ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Day trips to Europe are probably over. Johnson just announced Christmas is cancelled and restrictions will be in place until next year, and by then we will have been hit with brexit sanctions anyway.0

Sounds like a Johnny English plot, transform England into a giant prison.....[DELETED USER] said:Day trips to Europe are probably over. Johnson just announced Christmas is cancelled and restrictions will be in place until next year, and by then we will have been hit with brexit sanctions anyway.

If one stocks up on drink, fags, anything else then a 14 day quarantine might be worth it.0 -
As long as you factor in all the extra booze and fags you'll go through to get you through the 14 days full on quarantine... may want to pick up some nibbles whilst your there too.DCFC79 said:Robin9 said:You might have a double whammy of 14 days - when the French impose 14 days on visitors from England and then the English imposing 14 days on people who have been in France.
