O/S Daily Monday 21 September 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, but dry.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 getting ready for work and I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch yesterday was the roast lamb, roasties, mash, swede, carrots, HG green beans, broc, peas, yorkshrires and gravy - no LO meat but some mash, veg and yorkshires left so will use those towards another meal.
We visited the parents yesterday morning as we're thinking there may be lockdowns announced again shortly.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Brr winter cometh - 7 deg this morning when I got up, that's the chilliest start we have had so far. Yet it's forecast to reach 20 deg this afternoon, so summer is still clinging on! Same again tomorrow and then Wednesday it will be all change.
I am determined I will get to Dunelm this morning as it's been postponed time and time again and the bathroom window is still in need of "something" but I don't know what! A quick browse might give me some inspiration! After lunch I want to make a start emptying some pots in the garden that are past redemption now and look a bedraggled mess. It's hard work bending with ailing legs so not as easy a job as it sounds but a bit at a time and I will hopefully get there.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need, especially our convalescents. Take care one and all and stay safe x

Morning Chums
It's dry this morning, yesterday's drizzle didn't come to anything but there was no sunshine until about 4.30, I think today will be the same.
My neighbour gave me a huge bag of rhubarb so I now have 20 jars of rhubarb and ginger jam, some will go into work to be given away but the rest will do me and the family through the winter. I also pulled loads of leeks that had to be prepped to put in the freezer - they had started to bolt so there's a big core in the middle that had to be taken out of each one. At least the smell of the jam was better than the leeks!
It's a short week workwise, we have September weekend coming up so Friday and Monday off. I'm saving the non urgent housework until then as all my evenings are taken up this week.
Hope everyone has a happy Monday, take care. XX13 -
Morning
Lovely day again but quite chilly hopefully heating up for one last day of summer. Last day of freedom as well before local lockdown starts at midnight. Essential travel only and no mixing with any other households
Washing day so one lot done towels to do next. Kitchen nice and tidy after the weekend but the floors really need tackling. Freezer one is looking nice and sparce now bar tons of veg so will be able to start facing the garage freezer next week. Grabbed out some smoked salmon and some mackerel pate and a part baked baguette for a fish platter tonight
camelot yum to the rhubarb jam my favourite
Have a good day all14 -
Good morning folks.Yesterday I got bogged down with (eventually) sorting out paperwork which had been piling up and put off too long. Now it's all been scanned into my laptop and the originals shredded.I had a mini-row with another customer in Waitrose which shocked me. I was at the welcome desk handing over my order number and was tucking my phone back into my bag when someone behind me said 'can you move out of the way'. 😱 A woman wanted to put her code into the machine and couldn't wait for ten seconds. My tetchy response was a classic example of behaviour breeds behaviour! 🤣
Today I'm going for a bout of heavy duty physio at Hampden Park. This nonsense wobble needs sorted as walking is still difficult. Not in hip or leg but it really hurts my shoulders. I'm leaving early enough to take account of the possibility of getting lost.Whatever you're doing out there I hope it's enjoyable. Even the de-fleaing! Happy Monday to all.13 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread Nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Beano's been walked, and had his breakfast.
We're moving today as rain is forecast for tomorrow, I'm not sure how far we will get, maybe to Brimpton, possibly to Woolhampton. I will walk to collect the car tomorrow so the further we get today the less I have to walk tomorrow, it will about 3 miles to walk.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.11 -
Morning all! I've been up and out to the local shop to get some croissants and while there was tempted by the chicken and stuffing sandwiches, haven't had them for so long and we can have half each with some soup for lunch because I will be busy and am not planning on cooking today, although depending on what time I finish I may. I need to do a freezer sort but the weather is supposed to be carp on Wednesday so it can wait until then. In the meantime, it's all hands on wood and tools.Deciding on how high to make the table took a while yesterday but height has now been decided and I found the wood glue so I'll be cutting and screwing and all sorts today and as long as we get the posts set for the pergola thing before Wednesday I'll be happy. Squaring up and getting that right is my biggest worry. either of us has done that before so it's all new...Anyway, I'm off to google stuff and look for yet more tools [ a blummin good sort out of them and getting them all in one place is also going to be necessary] because they're scattered around the place. Not the power ones, just the screwdrivers, plumb lines, little bits and pieces , I can't find my square and it's all very irritating, and yet totally my own fault....:)OHs and sisters visit went well, their nan is looking good if frail so they were happy. On the minus side, someone has been in contact with someone with covid so OH and sister may or may not have to self isolate depending on results of test to come so one minor worry to contend with. Major one will happen if test is positive.Snoozer, oh how yuk! good luck bombing everything into submission! Gers, yep about the behaviour thing...some people are convinced of their own importance more than they should be. Happy ot sorting TA. And well done Nelski, I'm feeling quite ashamed of my mess now..Hey all reading along, hope you're all present and correct, mambo monday!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi12

Morning all
Sunny and bright here but chilly this morning I have dd's bedding on the go as her pup was sick on the bed last nightwe wipped the duvet cover off really quickly so we dont think much went on the duvet but I have sponged that off and got it on the line to air I hope it dries as its getting cold at night now.
On my own today with the two dogs so it will be a quick walk up to the park with them, one is a tiny jack Russel sized and one is a huge American Bulldog they get so excited when going out for a walk its honestly like wrestling with a cartload of monkeys
Big dog was the poorly one though so may not want to much of a run as she is a bit subdued this morning.
Dinner tonight will be a roast pork with all the trimmings which i am looking forward to, it will be nice for the others coming in from work as well.
Hope you all have good days xxx
MM hope you are well xx11 -
Hi everyone,
Laura rang in a bit of a panic this morning. Esben has reacted to some food in the past, notably salmon and on the advice of an NHS dietitian she had been giving him tiny bits of peanut butter, this morning she gave him a bit more on toast and his face went bright red and he vomited. Luckily that seems to be all but Laura was quite shaky. She had had a letter from the allergy clinic saying that he would be sent an appointment and not to contact them unless she hadn't heard from them by a certain date (which was past) so she rang and now has an appointment for October 8th.
Crystal's cat Tibs had to go to the vet yesterday because she had injured her foot. They emerged £700 lighter. The thing is that Crystal has been paying an enormous sum in pet insurance for 12 years for Tibs. It covers absolutely everything with no excess and she has NEVER claimed on it. She has promised me that she will claim this latest bill, talk about more money than sense. As a result of all the drama they weren't able to go to Brighton to their friend's ordination which was a shame.
Today will be another day of vacuuming and washing everything in sight in our ongoing battle with the fleas. We might go for a bike ride later.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all, thanks for starting nmlc.
Very misty earlier but the sun is breaking through now, I have two washloads out on the line - not sure how dry they will get as the breezes we had at the weekend have gone.
RedRuby, poor dog, and I hope the duvet is not too pongy.
Lots of boring things to do today, including some ironing. Not much, I iron very little but there is never a time when I see the bottom of the basket. I spend half my time finding more interesting things to do, like contemplating the meaning of the universe. Or peeling potatoes.
On that edifying note, I will wish you all a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back10 -
Morning everyone
I've been for an early morning blood test and done some tidying, as I don't start work till 12. Just going to hoover then make a nice cuppa and have a look at yesterday's Sunday Times. It was never opened as I had little one all day. It was a lovely day together playing, painting and going for a walk . Little one was on her reins and found a tiny puddle - she splashed in her wellies, washed her hands in it and finally sat down and kicked her legs up and down! There wasn't much puddle left when she was finished and she was soaked - but very happy.
Hope everyone has a good day today9
