Ask PayPal for it back1

When we've had a paypal credit/refund it's been paid back to the original credit card. Takes 2 or 3 working days.1

According to PayPal it will be returned to your PayPal account, and from there you can transfer to your bank account.
5th bullet point on below link.

Log into Paypal account, transfer to bank. Usually only takes minutes to land in your account.

A refund to the PayPal credit account is not the same as having a refund to the PayPal account itself.1 -
With a credit card you'd need to call and ask for the money back, I expect its the same with PayPal Credit. https://www.paypal.com/uk/smarthelp/contact-us - just drill down into a topic (any), and at the bottom there is a call us link.0

OP is correct and I’m having exactly the same problem. Used PayPal Credit to make a purchase of an iPhone. Raised a dispute because the phone was faulty and the merchant refused to refund. PayPal reviewed the case and agreed in my favour, the refund has been added to my “PayPal Credit Balance” but not my PayPal account. PayPal are telling me they will not transfer the credit balance to either my PayPal main account, or my bank account. See the attached screenshot!
I don’t see how this can be above board... the only way to access the refund is to spend the equivalent amount through PayPal credit again, but not all purchases are even eligible for PayPal credit !? No idea where to go next if they keep refusing...0 -

ive done a bit more digging and also found a possible workaround. It seems you can “send money” to another person and select PayPal credit as the source of funds - but you can’t send funds to yourself. I’m going to get my husband to set up a PayPal account this evening and see if we can work it out that way! Hopefully there won’t be any fees involved , worth looking into.0 -
