30 Hour Element

I get CTC and WTC and am currently contracted 24 hours per week. For the last couple of months I have done approx 35 hours per week and for the next 2 to 3 months will be doing 37 hours per week on a temporary basis, it may become permanent.
Can I claim the 30 hour element now then update my details again if average hours drop below 30?
Is there any benefit to doing so or is the 30 hour element based upon a full tax year to claim it?

Yes, you can claim it and it will be added for the relevant period of your award. You can only backdate it 1 month unless you are a critical worker.1

Thanks. What's the minimum period it's measured over? Is it weekly, monthly?0

Unfortunately the legislation isn't definitive - basically it is when your 'normal' working hours change to 30 a week. If it is a permanent change, then from day 1. If it is a temporary change, then you would have to make a judgement call.WYSPECIAL said:Thanks. What's the minimum period it's measured over? Is it weekly, monthly?0
