On my travels recently I've seen small pear trees growing successfully in patio containers and giving quite an impressive crop. Has anyone here been so lucky and maybe able to recommend a variety?
Dwarfing rootstock grown, I assume.

It's not the flesh but the skins I don't like and they're such a faff to peel for cooking. Then there's the whole ripening palaver.
Growing up we had a prolific pear whose fruit never ripened and wouldn't poach into edibility either so that put me off for a start and frankly my adult experience hasn't changed my mind.
I notice that both Delia and Nigella like them in chocolate puddings which do sound okayish but I'm not big on milky chocolate either so ........0 -
