Best type of curtains/blinds for this awkward window?
If you go with one curtain on the right, just leave the finial off the pole and fit it right up against the wall. We've done this where there isn't quite room for a finial and it's fine. Just make sure that the bracket screws to hold the pole in place are firmly screwed in, so the pole doesn't wander over time (might be more likely if you have all the curtain weight on one end).
However, my brain can't cope with one-sided curtains! You could possibly get a longer bracket, or I'd consider boxing in above the window and slightly to the right, so you hang the curtains normally from that - all the same depth - and the boxing in above the window will mean you don't have a weird gap. I don't think you'll notice once the curtains are up, the window will just look a bit deeper-set into the wall.
Just a quick mention in regards to the Perfect fit blinds, they look good and would have worked but they aren't black out unfortunately, which is quite important for me in the bedroom to sleep!
But thanks again, I will fashion something from your comments !
