Have set up an EPSON to print via BT hub using wifi.  Works one day then the next the "EPSON Printer checker" comes up complaining it cannot find the printer.
The last "fix" was to stop/start the BT hub.  Do I have to tell the BT hub to allow printing or something.  Grrrrrrr.
EDIT.  Its not the BT hub smart setup is it?  It's a BT hub 4

Have you tried to set the printer as a static ip address?

No.  Why should I have to do that?

If the printer loses its connection for whatever reason, the router will then remember to assign it the same ip address , and ergo Windows etc will know where to look for it .

Thanks. I have this technical hole with printers - they see me coming and work on day1 and then fail on day2.
I don't have to do anything clever at the router do I - like preventing DHCP from allocating the static address?

  • Not much use with BT hubs , never used one for myself and never intend to, manuals here https://www.bt.com/help/broadband/getting-set-up/user-guides-and-manuals-for-bt-hubs

Can you setup this printer to be a standalone Wifi hub, then you can connect to it directly via it's own wifi network rather than via the router.
  • If that's the same as "WiFi direct" then yes I could try that. It asks to enter a code and I cannot remember where that comes from.

Yes, that'll be it. You should be able to get the code from the printers menu settings.

If the printer had a menu rather than only a couple of stupid buttons... but I'll work it out.

  • Does it not have an Epson menu from windows ? which may be easier
