Does Monzo/HSBC refund you if  money has been taken out of  an account by a scammer,? My daughter  was called  on the phone  and now she  has lost a few thousand pounds , money for university degree - she is devastated - as she is an innocent trustworthy young lady ,now may not be able to carry on with her degree . Will she get this money back? , Monzo / HSBC  are looking into the above as she reported it straight away to them - this has knocked her confidence etc . Is there any help / advice for young students who get scammed  and  how to get this money back ?

What was the background to the event? Each case will be decided on the facts surrounding the events such as the level of checking done by the customer and how resilient the banks own systems were. In addition, the bank may be able to recover monies (partially or whole) depending on where they are in the banking system. 

So straight answer to your question is no-one knows apart from your daughter as she has all the facts.

There are also dispute systems (Financial Ombudsman) if the banks conclusions are at odds with what your daughter thinks. So early days.
