Trackers

Any recommendations?
There seems to be a bewildering array and I have no idea where to even start!
I'd like it to be professionally fitted but otherwise no preferences.

Stick a cheap mobile in the car and hide it with a pay as you go sim?

Plenty of track your phone software choices.  Bonus is there are no fitting costs unless you get a power cable
professionally wired to keep the phone charged.   No subscription fees to track the car which you may
    never use.

Why do you want to track it and what info do you need?  Full map tracking from your own device or ping it
once in a blue moon, or just in case its ever stolen?

The Automatrics MTrack system seems good. It's expensive but is properly supported. There are lots of videos on YouTube of vehicles being found inside buildings using the system, e.g. this one: https://youtu.be/auIDwpf6dl8

When you read the details of the capabilities of their Wireless units, I think the Wireless ones are better than the Wired ones.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

The M Track is about £550 with a 3 year contract.
Worth it if the car is easily nickable, the chancers often park them up a few streets away and wait a couple of days to see if there is a tracker so there is a good chance of getting it back.

If professionals have it they use 'phone jammers whilst they locate any tracker.

Locally, there was a spate of thefts of tracker equipped vans, and the thief simply drove them to  a secluded location and took the tracker out. They actually caught him though because he took one out in full view of a flytipping camera and someone recognised him.

I did some research into this a while ago. I was recommended CanTrack for my van as having a very high retrieval rate. I can't remember the cost as haven't actually bought one (yet!). Was told to go for long life battery so you can hide it anywhere and no way of following power cables back to the tracker.
