Motability scheme

My partner has just had a successful MR and has been awarded enhanced rate on mobility meaning she can join the motability scheme. After looking how it works we are confused as to whether the lease is the whole of her motability allowance or just the enhanced amount, can anyone who is on the scheme please advise me on it?

Giantdaz74 said:we are confused as to whether the lease is the whole of her motability allowance or just the enhanced amount,That makes no sense because those 2 are the same. The whole of her mobility award is the Enhanced award. It tells you on the mobility website how much the vehicle is of your choice. Some are a little less than the whole of her award and some are all of it. Also some require an advance payment as well as the whole award, it just depends exactly what she wants. Use this link to see what she wants and it gives you the cost per week. Enhanced mobility is £62.25 per week. I don't understand what exactly you're confused about because it tells you in the link everything you need to know.

Thanks for that, she was already getting standard mobility but now she's on enhanced and the wording on the site mentions her 'enhanced mobility rate' as opposed to just saying mobility rate which could've meant only the extra/advanced bit counted.0

That still makes no sense how you think that. The Enhanced award is all of the mobility award, which is £62.25 per week. Standard mobility is £23.60 per week, she won't receive both of those amounts. There's no "extra Enhanced bit"If she decides to lease a vehicle then the mobility award amount isn't paid to her at all, DWP keep it and pay motability. Please have another read of all the information in the link. She can even scroll through all the vehicles and it will tell her exactly how much it is.Smaller vehicles can be a little less than the whole of the mobility amount. It really depends on exactly what she wants.0

I think what the OP is trying to say is, does motability take the difference between standard and enhanced and they keep the equivalent to standard rate.Obviously the answer is still no as explained, as the awards don’t work in that way.1

When you lease a Motability vehicle it's the enhanced rate Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP) worth £62.25 that you agree to exchange for a vehicle (or, if you're a DLA recipient the Higher Rate element which is also £62.25). There are some cars that cost less than the total allowance of £62.25, and if you choose one of these vehicles you'll get the money you save back. If you're looking for cashback deals or money saving Motability offers Motaclarity have details of all the latest deals here https://www.motaclarity.co.uk/news/motability-deals0

Sorry to butt in to someone elses thread - but I have a question re Motability carsIf you choose a dealers due to a better deal than your local dealers (I am talking the other end of the country) are you stuck with that dealers for servicing etc - or is it like transferring a new car warranty to your local dealers ?ie) Kia Niro self charging Hybrid is available from JCT600 for nil advance payment - but my local dealer wants £699 for the identical car !!Could someone obtain the car from JCT600 - and live 300 miles away and transfer the servicing to their local dealers ?0

You can have the car serviced at any dealers you like. I'm on Motability and have done this regularly in the past. It's often the case that there's a good deal far away but your local dealer refuses to budge.

How do you think people manage if they move house? They wouldn't be expected to travel back to the dealer they go their car from that would be rather ridiculous. When i had my first motability car almost 4 years ago i moved house over 300 miles away about a year into the lease. When i moved i simply rang motability and changed address. They then told me the dealers which was closest to me, so i used that one.0
