Switching and wages

I’ve not switched an account with wages being paid in before so just want to confirm the new bank details are switched the same as direct debits and I don’t need to inform HR

    They will transfer over if sent to the old account. But it’s always best to update your payroll team anyway.

    To take, as an example, TSB, the relevant web page says:
    We will transfer all your existing payments for you – those going out, like Direct Debits and standing orders, those coming in like your salary and payees you already have set up.
    In theory, then, you don't need to inform your HR department. However:
    1. It wouldn't do any harm to do so; and
    2. they might ask for your confirmation of the switch anyway.
