Needing advice please - letters of administration

When my nanny passed my mum was asked to apply for letters of administration and shes finding it very confusing, stressful and upsetting, so i wanted to find as much information as i could to try and make it a little bit easier for her.
Ive been doing some research and i was feeling a bit lost about the process myself so was just hoping for a little bit of guidance so i can lay things out for her and make the whole process a little bit easier to handle. I hate seeing her upset anyway and this is making it worse, any assistance would be so so appreciated

It seems that your grandma did not make a will - she died "intestate".

Your mother can apply for Letters of Administration so that she can deal with her late mother's  affairs.

See https://www.gov.uk/applying-for-probate This explains the process.

If your grandma owned a property in her sole name/had substantial savings/ other assets, then it will be necessary to apply.

you can certainly help her to do the application - was it for a particular asset that you mum needed LOA? often it is not needed but if there is property / lots of savings / premium bonds then it is required. If her estate is straightforward then it should not be too complicated for you to complete the process
