M&S energy Sept 2020 £50 'Bill credit'
The ‘Cheap Energy Club’ calculator shows M&S energy as the cheapest electricity only tariff for me, switching from a Shell energy fixed tariff. This is only achieved by the fact that there is a ‘£50 bill credit from M&S Energy with this tariff, applied to your account after your first direct debit is paid.’ I have looked on the M&S energy website and can’t find any details of this offer and its specific terms. It is an otherwise expensive one year fixed tariff, but with no exit fees. If I choose to switch before the end of the fixed term, will they try to reclaim the £50 incentive? Has anyone else signed up for this tariff and received a more detailed contract which spells out the terms in more detail?
Thanks.

All joining incentives are kept whether or not someone switches back out, as you say no exit penalties free to switch again after getting the advertised incentive, reason ‘£50 bill credit not advertised on M&S energy website is that it is offered for switches via MSE Cheap Energy Club

When someone puts infomation in to get a quote, if scroll down on quote page, likely Bill credit gets added after first direct debit has been paid.If switch via MSE Cheap Energy Club also get whatever cashback is being offered at whatever period of time stated to be paid

I was looking at the March 2020v2 as it came up cheapest for me, £12.50 cashback from MSE, then looked at the other comparison sites and Quidco offered £20 cashback for the same tariff, I then looked at MS Energy website , all tree 3 websites offered the £50 credit, but the unit rates and standing charges are more expensive if you go direct to MS Energy, though the tariff label is the same,. Annoying when you can't do a straight check.

All part of the suppliers game of making it confusing for us customers to compare tarriffs. The more they do this, the more people are willing to stay put (and pay more) to avoid hassle.1 -
