Hi, I'm hoping to get some advice on the best way to approach getting refunds on some flights booked for future holidays. Details of our current situation and the flights are below. Do I have any chance now or do I need to wait until the dates of the flights? I know I need to read into the situation more, but if for example we're still not allowed to travel to the countries involved at the time, does that change the situation?
Currently can't go on holiday together due to local restrictions.
Can't travel to the countries involved.
Lead booker has travel insurance covering the dates of the first trip but not second - purchased 2 February 2020.
Everything paid on credit card
All tickets look to be 'non-refundable'
Trip 1
Flights to France booked June 2020 direct through Air France
4 adults from 2 households
Flights in December 2020
Trip 2
Flights to USA booked June 2020 direct through British Airways
3 adults from 2 households
Flights in February 2021

Come back in November and ask, nobody knows what the situation will be next week, let alone in 3 months. You cant start approaching these companies now asking for refunds.0

If the airlines cancel the flights then refunds will be due
If flights operate you either look at the waivers they have in place - likely to be a flight change or future travel voucher or deal with the travel insurance
You mention lead traveller has insurance for the first trip - is this a group insurance for the whole party or is this for themselves only or their household (will depend who is named on the policy)
Credit card would come into it if flights cancelled and airlines fail to refund / go bust, not if the flights operate
edit: the BA flights should be covered by the Book with Confidence guarantee that was around in June - which means you can have a future travel voucher valid till end April 2022

Hi. I’m looking for some advice if possible. I booked a holiday to Florida for Christmas 2020 via LoveHolidays. Flights are with Icelandair out of Gatwick. I booked back in January and took out insurance at the same time. As the USA currently refuses entry to anyone who has been in the UK for 14 days prior to arriving in the US does anyone know whether I would be able to request a refund on my holiday?0

Ba are cancelling about 3 weeks in advance. So wait till then or take a voucher.0

As the above posters have covered, it's useless worrying now.
BA are offering more than the others in terms of flexibility - you'll be relying on their policies to help you as you're not entitled to a refund for the reasons you have given unless the flight is cancelled.0
