Micro chipping

Hi, does anyone know, if I get my dog chipped at pets at home do they then register the microchip number on one of the tracker sites? Included in the price ?
Thanks x

  • Pets at Home may have a different system, but when we had our cat chipped the vet charged us for the actual chip and for the procedure.  He then gave us the paperwork/codes needed to register the chip, and pay the registration fee.

Isn't anyone doing it for free these days- or for a donation?
I'm thinking Dogs Trust. Blue Cross, Battersea. Before it became law many places did it for free. have you checked? For some you need to receive benefits.
Puppies should be chipped before leaving the breeder
I would assume chip and registration were an all in price because what's the point of the chip if it isn't registered?

I do not think there are any schemes going now perhpas because of Covid the charities having to shut and also not getting any money coming in.
  • Well if there is a charity near OP I would check- I would rather give a decent donation to a charity than to Pets at Home!!
At one time local authorities were also chipping for free (again this was before charge in the law)
