if I decide to close an account does anyone have any advice on how to do this?As a general rule it looks better if you've had a current account for many many years. Savings acccounts AFAIK don't affect your credit, you can have millions with sod all in them.Applying for copious accounts and credit in a short space of time may affect it but after a while that effect drops off.0 -
Assuming this is a current account, if it isn't costing you any money then personally I'd leave it open to take advantage of a switch incentive down the line - assuming you can't take advantage of one of the offers available now. Having accounts open longer generally looks better to lenders, although I don't know how much weighting they put on this.
If you want to close it however, the easiest way is generally to just switch your it into your main current account. Otherwise you'll need to contact the bank in question to find out how to close it.0 -
The information on how to close an account should be on each bank's web site, usually in the Help section. Some banks allow online closing.
