'Worlds Sharpest Knife' - Lifetime guarantee

Bit of a long shot, but thought I would ask!
About 14 years ago purchased via a demo at Tesco from the 'Worlds sharpest knife' - Purchased quite a few. They apparently come with a lifetime guarantee. About 7 years ago had them all replaced due to going blunt, the HQ was only 20 miles away so managed to drop off the old and collect the new.
They are all blunt again, however this time can find nothing online for them. However I did have another knife in the drawer that was identical called 'Forever Sharp', offering the same lifetime guarantee. Guessing one and the same company, however much further afield now. Dropped them an email.
Presuming it's one of those things to get out of the lifetime guarantee thats offered? If it is, then can probably say i've had my my moneys worth out of it! :D

  • Haha, thank you!
More then happy to replace, suppose it just goes to show never to trust a life time guarantee!
Probably shouldn't even be in this section, I blame the gin!
  • Mine never go blunt using this.

  • If I were you, I'd be happy that I had a chance, however brief, to own the world's sharpest knife.  As in the actual, genuine sharpest knife on the entire planet.  It's quite something really; to have, in one's kitchen drawer, a knife sharper than anything the swordsmiths of feudal Japan could come up with, sharper than a razor blade, sharper even than the precision polished edge of a Swiss surgeon's scalpel.  Truly, the world's sharpest knife.  What was it like to cut with?  Would the tiniest pressure on humble meat or veg see the knife pass through, cut the chopping board in half and continue to descend; slicing its way down through the worktop, the kitchen unit, the floor, the Earth's crust and the magma?  It sounds like an instrument of great power, this world's sharpest knife...
  • We've got two kitchen knives (Kitchen Devil I think) that are both about 30 years old.  They get used regularly and have never been sharpened since purchase.  They still work fine.

Have you used a brand new decent knife (or even another new kitchen devil) recently?

I thought my 10 year old knives were still great until I tried a new one and it glided through a swede (turnip for the northern readers) effortlessly. The blade dulls imperceivably with each cut you make so you dont notice that it slowly dulls.

Fortunately the blade did get stopped by the chopping board so not living up to @Ditzy_Mitzy's expectations so clearly not the worlds sharpest knife (nor was it marketed as such)

I have no doubt the blades have dulled over time, but they still work satisfactorily, so I don't need even to look at a new kitchen knife let alone try one.

Maybe a good idea not to try them then as your definition of satisfactory may be realigned... though they do always say that dull knives are more dangerous in the kitchen than sharp ones.
