The 1.2 DiG-T engine was made under an alliance with Nissan and Renault.
Damilar came in later with some involvement with the 1332cc that replaced it.

There were some worrying signs with some engines that the variable oil pump might have had problems supplying the right amount of oil under some condtions that caused timing chain issues.

There was also reports of some problems with pistons and bore size causing oil consumption problems. I seem to think this was badly matched piston to bore size, even in these high tech factories there are manufacturing tolerances and piston sets are available in micron steps of sizes and matched to the bores or mismatched in this case.

These problems seemed to effect cars early on it their life cycle and it appears most were manufactured between 2014 and 2015.
The Qashqai appeared to suffer the most, but it's more likely due to it outselling anything else with that engine in it as there have been reports other Nissans, Dacias and various Renaults suffering around the same time.

The Pulsar from around 2014 (C13) onwards wasn't much of a success mainly due to the Qashqai's popularity.
For the money there are much better cars out there on the market and one wouldn't be my choice, perhaps consider a Mazda 3 or a Honda Civic if you want more peace of mind or back to the Golf or one of it's cousins from Seat or Skoda.
