fr33zy said:Following on from my original thread, I have received a final response from Metro Bank stating the following;"Your facilities came to our attention following notification from a third-paty that fraudulant funds were to be paid in to your account, specifically credits of £xxxx and £xxxx received on x date. These funds were requested and sent back to the sending back". They further stated "the decision was also made to load your details to CIFAS due to the type of payment and amount, and Metro has a due to report these issues to combat fraud and they don't consider their actions unreasonable". They also stated "please note the the sender of these funds may be known to you and we would request yuo speak to the individal shold you want to enquite with them directly"So the payments refer specifically to the two payments I received for the car. The sender of the funds has provided me a copy of his statements for 2020 where I can see the payments left his account but have not been returned to him. What are my next steps? Do I write to CIFAS directly to try to remove the marker for 'false instruments paid in'. What evidence, if any, should I provide to them to support this request for removal? Should I also get in touch with the Financial Ombudsman1

I think he will need to provide evidence who paid the money and why it was paid.
May be write back to Metro and explain and see what they say.

You need to go to the FOS.
You need to provide evidence as best you can, car advertisement, correspondence with the buyer etc.

Thank you guys. I like many of you took D3xt3r5L4b's comments to be unfounded and trolling. I took the advice of several real solicitors who advised the same, that I was the innocent party from a vehicle sale, and thatI have been penalised for this, which is unfair. I have prepaped a letter to CIFAS and hopefully will update if/when the marker is removed.
