Hi there
I've got a relative who has recently been approved for universal credit. Single over 25
They are getting help with the rent but have been told its for 13 weeks
Please can you advise on what happens after I don't want to keep asking them.
I can't find anything online Apologies if it's been raised before on the forum
Any advice appreciated
Best wishes to anyone having a difficult time at the moment.. 2020 who knew... x

Best wishes to anyone having a difficult time at the moment.. 2020 who knew... xWho told them it's for 13 weeks? Claiming UC depends on personal circumstances. It's paid to those who work on low income, those who are looking for work and those who are unable to work because of a health condition. If the person is working then their UC entitlement will totally depend on the earnings received during their UC assessment period. If they don't have a work allowance then earnings will reduce their maximum entitlement by 63%.0 -
I think it was in a letter and they start cutting it down after the 13 weeks for the rent
I haven't been able to see the letter yet and don't want to keep asking under the circumstances, but want to find out enough info to try and give advice

When claiming UC all letters are uploaded onto their journal. Paper letters are not sent. Are you sure it's UC they're claiming because it doesn't sound like this to me. New style JSA is paid for 26 weeks but it doesn't include help with any rent. You need to ask them exactly what they are claiming.
