Tesco home delivery prices shock!

MalMonroe said:After having deliveries made by some really rude Tesco drivers and complaining about them but Tesco didn't care, we switched to Sainsbury's. We have no complaints whatsoever. The delivery drivers are lovely and if we ever phone up to complain about any dodgy pricing or goods incorrectly delivered we get an instant refund, no questions asked. And if you buy a 'delivery pass' it's cheaper anyway.0

It says on the site - when you search for the products it says offer valid for delivery and the two dates the offer is on for! Very hard not to miss!1

Tesco have been making some changes to their systems over recent weeks and it's caused some issues with how the promotions are displayed.
Many of their offers change on a Tuesday. The new offers should show online the day before they are available for delivery. However lately I've noticed that when logged in to my account the new offers have not been showing until the day they actually start.
Also there has been a one day difference between the dates when logged in and not logged in. For instance some offers ended on Monday 14/09 but their website was incorrectly stating they were valid for delivery until 15/09. However if I logged out or viewed the product page incognito the screen said the offer was valid for delivery until 14/09. It seems you may have been caught out by this error.
It's definitely worth complaining again, although trying to get CS to understand the issue without screenshots could be difficult. I always take screen shots of my basket in case of any issues. The CS person I spoke to about this could see it replicated when he signed in to his own account, but was unable to explain why it was happening.

They all do guide price and you pay the actual price on the day of delivery, its nothing new or outrageous or underhand.
Tesco clearly states offer end days on the product page.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Its been that way for as long as I can remember.

Mickey666 said:Exactly. The idea that a successful multi-million business would engage in some sort of scam is ludicrous.
If you physically go shopping on Monday and the prices change on Tuesday what then?
Online shopping is the same. You place your order on Monday but it’s not picked, packed And checked-out until Tuesday when it is then immediately delivered. Or would you prefer it to be picked on the Monday and left in storage overnight? The T&Cs for online shopping will be clearly stated but few people bother to read them. The way online shopping works, there is a delay between ordering and picking/check-out so obviously prices might change - up or down. In such cases the customer is offered a full refund so it’s hardly a scam.
People need to grow up.
Perhaps I am in the minority then but If I order from Amazon, Curry's, Dell or anywhere else I can think of - the price I expect to be charges is the price at point of sale. A bit like a contract - the price agreed at point of sale stands. If I shop next door and find it cheaper then tough - I fully accept that.
I also understand prices may go up of down by the time goods are delivered to me but I expect the price charged to my card is the price I was offered at checkout. To charge £96 more without telling me until the goods are delivered is ridiculous. The offers on the items I ordered were valid on my delivery date when I ordered. Only when they delivered them did they tell me it had been changed to a day early. Or as someone else here pointed out there is a fault in the online system when logged in/not logged in. I didn't screen capture every item (it was £350 bulk order!)

I'd expect (and have seen) some flexibility on regular customers but a £350 'bulk' first order of promotion items would flag issues and is unlikely to receive any goodwill1 -
I assume tesco works along similar lines, Asda send an email on the morning of the delivery telling any subs and the price to be paid.Sorry but freelandertwo. Its not the same as other shops. As they take the money straight away at time of purchase. Most supermarkets take it on the day of the delivery. For the very reason of offers ending. And I don't know to many other shops that take orders for deliveries to be made in a couple of weeks times. Its clear in the T & C's, even I knew this before I even started to use on line grocery shopping back in March for the first time. But if you are too lazy to read them not our problem. I just see someone cutting there nose off to spite there face and not having their shopping. If you had gone in to store on the day of delivery to shop you would have paid the same price. Most people don't know that supermarkets make a loss of between £7-£15 per delivery. Tescos make an average of 3.75% profit. So on your £350 shop they made a whopping £13.13 profit which then was reduced to £6.13 by taking off the £7 off the delivery. If it cost them £15 then you do the maths they made a loss!!!! Don't think they are really going to miss you as a customer when you actually look at the figures!!!And before I am accused of working for a supermarket I don't. I don't work at all so have no axe to grind.YoursCalley xHope for everything and expect nothing!!!

Asda now take payment the day before and then take the remainder the day of delivery (could be due to you added/took away items/fruit/veg weighed). Now that was a shock to most people.0

I'll attach some examples of my screen shots (taken yesterday), to try and illustrate what has been happening.
For the examples above the fresh items are incorrectly shown as valid for delivery until 29/09, when actually the offer ends on 28/09. If I were to book a delivery for 29/09 I would be charged full price with no system warning about offers expiring before the date of delivery.
The error is also happening with non fresh items on different dates. For example the chick peas above show the offer is valid for delivery until 30/9, whereas the offer actually ends on 29/09. Again if I'd booked a delivery for 30/9 I would have been charged full price, even though the screen states the offer is valid for a delivery on that date.
Tesco do seem to correct the dates eventually but when they upload a new batch of offers the following week the issues start all over again.
