Using 2009 imac as an extra monitor for a 2016 imac

As part of my new job they've given me a 2016 imac to use at home, and I was wondering if I could link up my 2009 imac to be used as a second monitor, dual screen.
The 2016 has thunderbolt ports and there's on mini display port on the 2009. I'm presuming there's a way of connecting them.
Do I need a double ended mini displayport cable? Logically, the correct one should be thunderbolt to mini displayport, but I cannot find them anywhere.
Thanks all

Probably not, unless there is a video capture card.
But monitors are cheap! Especially second hand0
