Comparisson annual usage - why is it incorrect on the Money Saving website, need some help please
Options
Hi
Really need some guidance. Im trying to do a comparisson on your website (the energy shop I think), however Igloo provide the usage in m3. Ive tried the conversion on another money savings website as I can't find anything here.
Igloo provide the readings/usage in m3 so for last 12 months meter reading is from 5771 to 4160 usage 1611m3.
The conversion Ive aquired is in the region of 51803kwh and all the estimates are telling me my monthly bill is going to be £120+ higher. This really doesn't seem correct unless gas has shot up in cost. Im wondering where Ive gone wrong or. The formula they use is:
As a featur request would be nice if we could input m3. Would help block the confusion.
Electric
So 5573kwh..easy
Gas
so 1611m3
Currently im paying £109 pcm and last bill was £79. Igloo have announnced increases so time to check and jump ship.
The cheapest comparrison is bringing up a bill of £199 pcm on imperial and £124 on metric
Please help. Confused!
Thanks

- Multiply by the volume correction factor (1.02264). So 1661 * 1.02264 = 1698.60504
- Multiply by calorific value (40.0).67944.2016
- Divide by kWh conversion factor (3.6).18873.3893333333

From my igloo account
Electric
29 Aug 2019 | 65947kWh |
28 Aug 2020 | 71520kWh |
Gas
29 Aug 2019 | 4160m3 |
28 Aug 2020 | 5771m3 |

1611m3 is about 18,000 kWh (use 11.2 to convert)
You can't enter m3 because that is only part of the equation, the conversion also needs calorific value and that varies monthly, even dailyNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -

Resulst and thank you.0 -
Since you're a high user of both gas and electricity, check out separate suppliers as that will most likely give you the cheapest outcome.1

Thank you I will have a dig and play with the figures.0
