Better picture quality with a box?

Hi I’m it’s probably a stupid question but I’m hoping someone can give me some advise, I’ve got a 4K uhd tv but apart from the HD channels ( Bbc1 itv etc) the other channels don’t have a great picture, if I buy a freeview 4k uhd box will that make the pictures better or the same?

The other channels don't have a "great picture" because they're not HD, they are SD - Standard definition.
Most SD channels on Freeview broadcast at 720x576 (or sometimes 544x576 with the reduced picture quality).  Nothing you do will increase the resolution of that picture without also increasing the artifacts/distortion, no matter what box or TV you buy.  The bigger the TV gets the worse the problem looks.

HD broadcasts at 1920x1080.  4k could be 3840x2160, but there are no Freeview channels yet that broadcast that resolution.  So if your TV can theoretically show 3840 width and 2160 pixels height and its only receiving 544x576, that's why it looks crap.
