Credit File - Debt Collection - Pay Off?

Long story short - 4 years ago I lost my business and ran up debt etc. subsequently passed on to debt collection agencies Lowell etc. I have about 7-8 of these, these will drop off my credit file in 2 years time. I am trying to get a mortgage - as have deposit etc - but can't until get these drop off report - if I settle these - will they show as part settled for next 5 years or do they still drop off automatically in another 2 years, as Im weighing up the best option for myself.

They'll show as settled and then drop off in two years, unless CCJs are obtained.1
