Furlough until Nov/test &trace said self isolate/do I tell employer

I am furloughed and have been for ages. I am due to return to work at the start of November. Nhs test and trace contacted me and told me to self isolate for 14 days re: member of household tested positive (without symptoms). I wondered what the situation is regarding SSP and my employer. Do I have to notify them about self isolating?

This probably comes down to a question of morality tbh. Do you think they would find out if you kept your mouth shut? I suspect SSP is dramatically less than what you are being paid at the moment.
Technically you would not be available for work if needed, are you 100% sure your boss would not get you back in until 1st November?0 -
Technically it would partly depend whether you can do your job from home. If you're fit to work and able to do your job from home then does it matter?
I think if you came in to contact with someone on a Monday and that person got a positive test result on a Friday that NHS would tell you to self-isolate for 14 days from the date you came in to contact with that person (Monday), not the day they contacted you, so I doubt your employer would know if you lied about when the NHS contacted you if you don't tell them straight away but they may get suspicious if they recall you for work and you immediately tell them.1
