In need of some roof repairs in the West Mids and wondered if anyone has experience with this organization?

Last time I had to call someone out, I paid £50.Repointing a chimney for £250 or even £400 sounds way too cheap to do a decent job.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
I wouldn't touch them, working to a fixed price isn't usually a good idea. Ask friends/neighbours for local recommendations. Where abouts in the West Midlands?Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.1

Quite apart from the prices - which should depend on the complexity of the job - what would send me running for the hills is the insistence on cash payment or bank transfer in advance.
My neighbours and I found an excellent roofer, not cheap but a Which? Trusted Trader. Whereabouts are you?2 -
Thanks. Will have a look at Which Trusted Traders.Falafels said:Quite apart from the prices - which should depend on the complexity of the job - what would send me running for the hills is the insistence on cash payment or bank transfer in advance.

Thanks for your replies. I have another job, which is to re-felt a 12x10 shed (supply and fit underlay and felt only). Quoted £800-£900. I thought that expensive, but then later thought it probably includes removal of the old material (which has already been done).0

Consider rubber for the shed, it lasts longer.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

Thanks. I have thought about rubber EPDM(?). One thing that slightly concerns me is that the shed (which is to be something of a man cave) sits in the pm sun and I wonder if EPDM will soak up the heat? I've not seen it in any colour other than black. Another concern is the appearance. The shed backs onto a tree line so I was hoping to get a covering that would blend in better. Maybe forest green shingles on the front and EPDM on the rear (which would be mainly out of sight and less troubled by lichens, moss, debris, etc. - the rough surface of the shingles provides a key).EssexExile said:Consider rubber for the shed, it lasts longer.0 -
DO NOT USE THESE ROOFERS UNLESS YOU WANT TO WASTE YOUR MONEY . ASKED THEM TO REPAIR TWO LEAKS ON MY ROOF . THEY DID THE WORK BUT THE NEXT TIME IT RAINED THEY WERE STILL LEAKING . ASKED THE ROOFER TO COME OUT AND TAKE A LOOK BUT HE SAID HE WOULD PASS BY WHEN HE COULD ( YOU DIDNT SAY THAT WHEN YOU WERE TAKING MY MONEY!!) HE NEVER TURNED UP SO I ASKED FOR A REFUND - HE REFUSED SAYING THERE MUST BE A THIRD LEAK AND ID NEED TO PAY ANOTHE £75 FOR HIM TO ATTEND. IM A SINGLE MOM AND LOSING THAT AMOUNT OF MONEY AND NOT HAVING IT FIXED IS A NIGHTMARE - IM BASICALLY MONEY DOWN AND AM NO FURTHER FORWARD. ARE THERE ANY DECENT HONEST WORKMEN OUT THERE ?? REALLY DISAPPOINTED ! SHODDY DISHONEST TRADESMEN SUCK-1
